It was the second time in the tournament that Amir had dismissed Babar
Quetta Gladiators’ fast bowler Mohammad Amir has spoken out after dismissing Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam during their PSL 10 match at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
In a high-stakes clash, Amir once again got the better of Babar, this time with a sharp in-swinging delivery in the third over of Zalmi's innings. It was the second time in the tournament that Amir had dismissed Babar, having previously removed him for a duck in their earlier encounter.
Following the key wicket, Amir celebrated energetically, running towards the Gladiators’ dugout with a unique gesture that caught fans’ attention.
Amir’s breakthrough helped set the tone early in the match, followed by Faheem Ashraf’s five-wicket haul, which led Quetta Gladiators to a commanding 64-run victory over Zalmi.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Amir discussed the wicket and the friendly rivalry with Babar Azam.
“These rivalries are what make T20 cricket exciting,” Amir said.
“Whether it’s on the field or on social media, it entertains the fans. My job as a bowler is to challenge the batter, show some aggression, and try to get him out. It’s all part of the game,” he added.
Amir also praised Babar as a top player and explained how he planned the dismissal.
“Babar is a big player, no doubt about that,” he said.
“My strategy is to use the new ball and try to swing it both ways. I thought he might be expecting an outswinger, so I went for the inswinger instead—and it worked,” he concluded.
