Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has named the Men in Green’s Twenty20 International (T20I) captain, Babar Azam, among his dream opening partners in international cricket.

Hafeez has featured in 55 Tests, 218 One-day Internationals (ODIs) and 91 T20Is for Pakistan over the course of his career, so far. During those matches, he has accumulated more than 12,000 runs and claimed over 200 wickets.

“There are many brilliant cricketers playing around the world. As an entertainer and as a player, I’m a fan of many players,” said Hafeez while speaking on BSports Pakistan’s YouTube channel. “If I was picking one from Pakistan, it would be Babar Azam. The ease with which he bats, through his good technique, makes things comfortable for the batsman at the other end.”

Turning his attention to players other than Pakistan, Hafeez named India’s Rohit Sharma and Australia’s David Warner as the cricketers he would prefer as opening partners.

“Globally, it’s difficult to answer that question because there are many great names going around,” he said. “Although, I would pick Rohit Sharma and David Warner as the two players I would like to open the innings with.”

Seasoned campaigner Hafeez is keen to represent Pakistan in this year's T20 World Cup before quitting international cricket. He has already retired from Test cricket and only plays the limited-overs format.
