Pakistan all-rounder, Mohammad Nawaz, showcased his prowess by steering the Khulna Tigers to a resounding victory against the Rangpur Riders in yesterday's clash of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.

After being asked to bat first, Khulna Tigers faced early setbacks, losing four crucial wickets within the first ten overs at the score of 64 runs.

However, a remarkable partnership between Dasun Shanaka and Mohammad Nawaz turned the tide for the Tigers. The duo contributed 77 runs, enabling their team to post a defendable total of 160 runs after losing six  wickets.

Nawaz, in particular, played a pivotal role, scoring a blistering 55 runs from 34 deliveries, featuring five boundaries and three sixes, displaying a striking strike-rate of 161.76.

During their chase, Rangpur Riders got off to a tough start as Babar Azam was out for just 2, caught LBW by Mohammad Wasim Jr. This happened in the second over of their innings, putting them in a difficult position early on.

Mohammad Nabi fought valiantly, reaching a half-century, but it proved insufficient as the Riders were eventually bundled out for 132 runs. Consequently, Khulna Tigers emerged victorious by a margin of 28 runs.

Nawaz didn't just shine in his batting; he also played a crucial role with the ball by taking two vital wickets, removing Brandon King and Shamim Hossain, and bowled economically, conceding only 13 runs in two overs at an economy rate of 6.50. Wasim Jr contributed as well, securing two wickets in his four-over spell by dismissing Babar Azam and Mohammad Nabi, with an economy rate of 8.45.
