Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has surpassed Indian captain Rohit Sharma's record for the most 50+ scores as an opener in T20 International cricket.
This milestone was achieved during the T20 World Cup match against Canada, held at the Nassau County International Stadium on June 11.
Rizwan scored a match-winning fifty, bringing his tally to 30 fifty-plus scores in just 71 innings.
This remarkable feat eclipses Rohit Sharma's record, who reached 30 fifty-plus scores in 118 innings. Rizwan's achievement is a testament to his exceptional form and consistency in the game's shortest format.
Most 50+ scores as an opener in T20Is:
Pakistan bounced back from consecutive defeats in the T20 World Cup 2024 with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Canada at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
After winning the toss, the Men in Green opted to bowl first and successfully restricted Canada to 106 runs, taking seven wickets in the first innings.
Pakistan then chased down the target, losing only three wickets, with Mohammad Rizwan's match-winning knock of 53 runs off 53 deliveries, including two fours and a six, leading them to victory inside the 18th over.
Pakistan's final group match will be against Ireland on June 16 at Lauderhill.
