Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, went on a visit to Nepal on Sunday to meet the Nepal Cricket team.

On Monday morning, Rizwan met the national players of Nepal, including the rape-accused Sandeep Lamichhane.

"We met with Rizwan in the morning," said a player.

On Sunday evening, Rizwan met Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Chatur Bahadur Chand and had a discussion about the growth of cricket in the country.

Chand revealed that Rizwan had specifically asked to meet Lamichhane during his visit.

"Rizwan said that he came to see Sandeep as he could not go out [of the country]," Chand was quoted as saying by My Republica, Nepal.

Rizwan and Sandeep are represented by the same sports management company, Saya Corporation.

Rizwan is scheduled to leave Nepal on Monday evening.

Nepal's cricket board lifted the suspension of Sandeep on February 1, even as the Himalayan republic's top law officer sought to have him sent back to custody on rape charges.

Sandeep is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in a Kathmandu hotel room last August but was released on bail last month.

Cricket Association of Nepal president Chatur Bahadur Chand told AFP that the board decided to allow the 22-year-old to return to the field.

"The board had taken disciplinary action against him and suspended him. The new decision to lift the suspension will allow him to play games," Chand told AFP.
