The individual who is under suspicion has been taken into custody by law enforcement officials and is currently undergoing questioning
Indian cricketer, Mohammed Siraj, has notified the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about a "corrupt approach" that occurred during the One Day International (ODI) series between India and Australia in March of this year.
Siraj, who is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, was approached by an individual seeking insider information after losing a significant amount of money.
Upon receiving the call, Siraj immediately informed BCCI officials about the matter, as per ESPNcricinfo.
"It wasn't a bookie who approached Siraj. It is a driver from Hyderabad who is addicted to betting on matches. He had lost huge money and approached Siraj for inside information," a senior BCCI source told PTI.
The individual who is under suspicion has been taken into custody by law enforcement officials and is currently undergoing questioning.
Since his debut in 2017, Siraj has represented the Indian national team in 18 Test matches, 24 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and eight Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Throughout his career, he has amassed a total of 101 wickets in international matches.
