Former cricketer also shared also his coaching experience with all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf
Pakistan’s former batting coach, Muhammad Yousuf, points out the significant problem in Haider Ali’s batting approach. He suggested Haider to be more attentive in the field and not to pay any heed to what has been happening in the past or might as well happen in the future.
In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Yousuf accentuated on the subjective importance of keeping your mind collected and at one place in the cricketing field.
"As for Haider Ali, my interaction with him was somewhat limited. I was with him for a year only as the team's batting coach. I haven't really worked with him in academies or anything of that sort. But whenever I have met him, I gave him quite a few tips, which he definitely tried to adapt and learn,” Yousuf said
“Unfortunately, Haider couldn't implement it on the international level. Moreover, I do think that he is often distracted on the ground; he is mentally not present in the moment - I could be wrong, but this is what I assume. You have to be in the present moment whilst leaving the past behind and the future aside. This is important for all players of any kind, of any format," he further added
Yousuf shared also his coaching experience with all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf.
"When I worked with Faheem in the academy - my strategy was to provide him some fine cricket tuning that he needed at that point, and when he returned to Test cricket, he sufficiently scored runs whenever required. So, it essentially depends on the player as well, that how much are they willing to learn as a cricketer as well as an individual," he concluded
It is worth noting that Faheem is part of the T20 and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against New Zealand, while Haider Ali was a member of the Pakistan team that came in second place in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.
