The journalist questioned Naqvi's understanding of the game, prompting an assertive response from the PCB chief
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, was accused by a journalist of lacking sufficient knowledge about cricket.
Naqvi, a businessman-turned-politician, who is also the Federal Minister for Interior of Pakistan, responded vehemently to the claim.
During a press conference, the journalist questioned Naqvi's understanding of the game, prompting an assertive response from the PCB chief.
"Time will tell how much I know about cricket but we are here to deliver. I don't care about what people say but you will see the results," Naqvi said.
He further emphasized his commitment to reforming the cricket system by involving former stars to eliminate favoritism.
"I am bringing in former stars to vet and improve the cricket system and end this culture of personal likes and dislikes," he said.
It is worth noting that the PCB unveiled three new tournaments for the Men’s Domestic Cricket Season 2024-25.
The new competitions, named the Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup, will complement existing fixtures such as the National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, President’s Trophy, President’s Cup, and HBL Pakistan Super League 2025. The domestic season will run from September 1, 2024, to August 5, 2025.
