Dhoni’s performance, particularly in batting, has led to speculations that this IPL season could be his last
Rumors regarding Indian cricket star Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been circulating following a recent match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
The 43-year-old Dhoni’s performance, particularly in batting, has led to speculations that this IPL season could be his last. However, in a podcast conversation, Dhoni dismissed all such rumors, stating that he is not yet in a position to make any decisions regarding his future.
“I am currently playing IPL and take each season as it comes. I am 43 years old and will turn 44 by July,” Dhoni said. “I will have 10 months to decide whether to play next year or not. It won’t be my decision, but my body’s – whether it is able to continue playing or not.”
Despite these rumors, Dhoni has shown excellent performance in fitness and wicketkeeping during this season. His speed and intelligence remain sharp, though he continues to struggle with batting.
In the four matches this season, Dhoni has only been dismissed once, but has not been able to finish an innings in his trademark style. In the match against Delhi Capitals, Dhoni scored 30 runs off 26 balls, but his team suffered a 50-run defeat. So far, Chennai Super Kings have won only one match this season.
