The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin this season, but the Multan Sultans will be missing the services of flamboyant Singaporean-Australian cricketer Tim David for at least the initial seven matches.

The 26-year-old, who is currently in South Africa playing for MI Cape Town in the SAT20 tournament, was advised by his trainers to manage his workload due to the high number of games he has played in the last six months.

Despite the advice to choose between SAT20 or PSL, Tim David expressed his commitment to the PSL and his relationship with the league, stating that he couldn't skip the tournament.

Tim David is set to join the Multan Sultans squad in the first week of March and will miss the first seven games, but will be available for the last three games and playoffs, if the team qualifies.

Haider Azhar, the CEO of Multan Sultans, confirmed that no replacement has been sought to cover Tim David's absence as the team will have the services of South Africa's David Miller to fill the same slot.

David Miller is set to fly back to South Africa after playing the first eight matches for Multan Sultans, and the franchise believes that with Miller being available in the initial matches and Tim David being available for the later stages, there is no need to add an additional replacement to the squad.

The Multan Sultans have also faced another setback with an injury to Wayne Parnell. The left-arm pacer sustained a groin injury during SAT20 and his availability for the initial matches is uncertain. The team is currently waiting for the final medical report to assess the nature of the injury.

Despite these setbacks, the Multan Sultans still have a strong line-up with Rilee Rossouw and Keiron Pollard being available to the franchise for the full duration of the PSL. However, pacer Josh Little may miss the playoffs due to Ireland's series against Bangladesh.
