Pakistan’s limited-overs vice-captain Shadab Khan believes that his bowling rhythm is improving gradually but conceded that it is not easy to make a comeback after injury.

While speaking during a virtual press conference, ahead of the first T20I against England on Friday, Shadab said that he is focused on doing well as a senior player despite dip in performance.

“I know I haven’t been able to perform well in the recent past but I think I was in better rhythm in the last two matches and the Abu Dhabi-leg of PSL as well. It is not easy to make comeback after injury but I’m trying to do well for my side as the senior player and captain,” said Shadab.

He also brushed aside the notion that he is more focused on his batting, as compared to bowling, in the recent past.

“You might not have seen how much effort I put into my bowling and batting. If I unable to perform well as a bowler, that does not mean that my focus has shifted towards batting. My focus has always been on my bowling, while I have always said that batting is my plus point. There is ups and downs in international cricket and hopefully I won’t repeat the mistakes I had made in the past,” he said.

He also urged critics to avoid judging players after one or two failures, while citing the example of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf.

“Faheem has done well for us, especially in Test cricket. Your criticism is justified but we should not judge a player on his performance in two or three matches. We will take this criticism in a positive manner and try to put up a good show for our country in the upcoming matches,” he concluded.
