Namibia kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with a thrilling super over victory against Oman in Barbados. Both teams ended their 20 overs with scores tied at 109, leading to a super over.

In the super over, David Wiese played a crucial role, scoring 13 not out alongside Gerhard Erasmus, who added 8 not out, off Bilal Khan's bowling, setting Oman a target of 22 runs. Despite their best efforts, Oman fell short, managing only 10 runs as Wiese's bowling prowess, which included the dismissal of Naseem Khushi, sealed the win for Namibia.

Earlier in the match, Ruben Trumpelmann's career-best figures of 4 for 21 had put Namibia in a strong position, seemingly setting them up for an easy victory. Wiese also contributed significantly with the ball, taking 3 for 28. However, Khalid Kail's 34 helped Oman reach 109 before being bowled out.

Namibia's chase started shakily with the loss of opener Michael van Lingen for a duck in the first over. Despite the challenging pitch conditions, Namibia appeared in control, needing just six runs off the final over with six wickets in hand. However, Jan Frylinck, who had been dropped twice, was bowled for 45, and Zane Green was trapped lbw, leaving Namibia needing five runs.

Mehran Khan's exceptional final over brought the match to the brink, and Oman nearly clinched victory on the last ball, but Khushi's flick missed the stumps, failing to run out Malan Kruger.

In the super over, Wiese and Erasmus's aggressive batting took Namibia to 21. Wiese then showcased his experience with the ball, conceding only 10 runs in Oman's super over and securing a dramatic win for Namibia in their opening match.
