Naseem Shah, Mir Hamza star as Pakistan Shaheens bowl out Bangladesh ‘A’ for 122 on day one

Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Mir Hamza delivered an impressive bowling performance, which helped Pakistan Shaheens’ bowl out Bangladesh ‘A’ for 122 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the first four-day match.

At the end of the first day's play, which was shortened due to poor light, Pakistan Shaheens had reached two runs without any loss in their first innings. Saim Ayub remained not out on two runs.

The match, held at Islamabad Club, had a delayed start on the first day due to a wet outfield, allowing for only 46.3 overs to be bowled.

Bangladesh A, after winning the toss and opting to bat, struggled against the Pakistan Shaheens' bowling attack.

Mir Hamza struck early for the Shaheens by bowling out Zakir Hasan for a seven-ball duck.

Apart from Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who fought hard for his 65 off 116 balls with nine boundaries, the rest of the Bangladesh A batting lineup struggled.

Only Mominul Haque (11 off 15 balls, 2 fours), Mushfiqur Rahim (14 off 27 balls, 1 four, 1 six), and Rejaur Rahman Raja (10 off 17 balls, 1 four) managed to reach double figures.

The most fruitful partnership for Bangladesh A was a 38-run stand between Mahmudul and Mushfiqur, which was eventually broken by Mohammad Ali.

The Shaheens' pacers were dominant, taking eight wickets in total.

Naseem Shah, returning to red-ball cricket after over a year, claimed 3-24 in 8.3 overs. Hamza was equally impressive, also picking up three wickets for 33 runs in his 11 overs.

Mohammad Ali was the most economical, conceding only 14 runs in his 11 overs, which included six maidens, and he also secured the crucial wicket of Mushfiqur.

Umar Amin provided a key breakthrough by dismissing the well-set Mahmudul, while leg-spinner Mohammad Rameez Jr. chipped in with two wickets for 41 runs in his 11 overs.
