Fast bowler Jayden Seales of the West Indies has achieved a career-best ranking of 13th in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings following his standout performance in the second Test against South Africa in Guyana.
Seales emerged as the leading wicket-taker with nine dismissals, despite his team's narrow 40-run defeat, which allowed South Africa to clinch the ICC World Test Championship series 1-0. His impressive showing propelled him 13 places up the rankings, making him the highest-ranked Test bowler from the West Indies.
Furthermore, spinners Jomel Warrican and Gudakesh Motie also saw modest improvements, moving up two places each to 52nd and 64th, respectively. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph made a notable leap of 11 spots to 54th, further enhancing the West Indies' representation in the bowling rankings. Meanwhile, Kyle Mayers dropped to 38th, allowing Naseem Shah to climb to 37th.
South Africa's Player of the Match, Wiaan Mulder, surged 27 places to 65th after claiming six wickets in the match, while off-spinner Dane Piedt climbed nine spots to 66th for his contributions against the West Indies.
On the batting front, South Africa's Aiden Markram moved up two places to 21st, and Kyle Verreynne jumped from 62nd to 46th following their notable performances in the second innings. Temba Bavuma's four-spot drop enabled Mohammad Rizwan to rise to 17th.
Meanwhile, former West Indies captain Jason Holder advanced seven places to 60th after scoring an unbeaten 54 in the first innings. Holder also climbed two spots to fifth in the all-rounders' list.
In other ICC rankings updates, Scott Edwards of the Netherlands rose six places to 26th in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, driven by his strong performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. Similarly, Aaron Jones of the USA and Vikramjit Singh of the Netherlands made significant strides in the batting rankings, climbing 11 and nine places, respectively.
