Former England captain Nasser Hussain has included Pakistan’s former opener Saeed Anwar among players he would pay to watch.

While sharing his thoughts about players he would you pay to watch right now and in the past, during a Q&A session with Daily Mail, Hussain named India’s skipper Virat Kohli, Windies former captain Brian Lara and England’s former cricketer David Gower, alongside Anwar.

“In terms of being easy on the eye, Saeed Anwar had an elegance and grace through the off-side,” said Hussain. “I've been watching some old footage of Brian Lara with that big back-lift and, wow, could he bat. Virat Kohli in a 50-over run chase. He just seems to chase down any score every time.”

“But I have to go for my childhood hero David Gower. I remember an early game against Leicestershire and I was at cover point as he leant on one and before I could move it hit the boundary boards behind me. Everything I had admired was there in front of my eyes,” he added.

Anwar played 55 Tests, making 4052 runs with 11 centuries. In ODI cricket, he made 8824 runs in 247 matches with 20 centuries including a highest score of 194 against India in 1997.
