Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is already gearing up for the eagerly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, starting on November 22. With a chance for India to achieve a historic hat-trick of Test series wins on Australian soil, the stakes are higher than ever.

Lyon, who has been a key player for Australia, has pinpointed India’s top batting stars as his primary targets for the upcoming series. The seasoned off-spinner has named Indian captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and explosive wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant as the key wickets he aims to take.

“Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant are probably going to be the three really big ones. But then you have still got Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and who else will come out—another five, I am not sure.

But it is a pretty amazing line-up they have got, so it is going to be a massive challenge. As I said, if we, as a bowling group, are good enough for long periods, hopefully, we can challenge their defense," Lyon said.

As Australia prepares to face India in this high-stakes series, the focus will be on how well Lyon and his teammates can counter the formidable Indian batting lineup and break their winning streak on Australian turf.
