National Stadium Karachi's inauguration to take place today

After Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, the National bank Stadium in Karachi is also ready to host the ICC Champions Trophy, and its inauguration will take place today.

The opening ceremony of the National Stadium will be held today, featuring LED lasers and fancy lights around the ground, along with a fireworks display and a laser light show. Renowned singers will also perform, and entry for fans will be free.

The opening ceremony will feature famous singers Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Sahir Ali Bagga, who will showcase their talent.

It is worth noting that this project was completed in just 120 days under the personal interest of Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi. 

Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, mentioned that construction work began on September 28, 2024, and was completed on January 31, 2025. The pavilion building has been rebuilt, and he appreciates the hard work of all the workers, FWO, NESPAK, contractors, and the entire PCB team who contributed to the project.

The opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy will also take place in Karachi on February 19, between Pakistan and New Zealand. In addition to this match, two more matches are scheduled to be held at the same venue.

The second Champions Trophy match at the National Stadium will take place on February 21 between Afghanistan and South Africa, while the third match is scheduled for March 1 between England and South Africa.
