Rizwan-led unit thumped Sindh in the second semi-final by eight wickets
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Sindh by eight wickets in the second semi-final of the ongoing National T20 Cup to setup a final date with Southern Punjab on Sunday, October 18.
Chasing a modest target of 143 runs, the Mohammad Rizwan-led unit went over the finishing line in comprehensive fashion inside 15 overs.
Rizwan (67 runs off 50 balls) and fellow opener Fakhar Zaman (57 off 29) notched up half-centuries to ensure that Sindh did not have any chance of making a comeback in the match.
Veteran all-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten on 12 and 6 runs, respectively, at the end.
Earlier, batting first, Sindh were dismissed for 142 in 19.5 overs after a lackluster batting display.
Opener Khurram Manzoor, 74 off 57, and Danish Aziz, 39 off 27, were the only Sindh batsmen which showed some sort of fight to help their side post a respectable total on the board. Apart from Manzoor and Aziz, no other Sindh batsman was able to enter double figures.
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pacers Usman Shinwari and Imran Khan were the pick of the bowlers with both registering figures of 2/19. Wahab Riaz, Shaheen Afridi and Asif Afridi bagged one wicket each.
