The Netherlands cricket team has been forced to make adjustments to their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 following injuries to key players.

Fred Klaassen and Daniel Doram, who were initially part of the Netherlands' Men’s T20 World Cup squad announced on May 13, will miss the tournament due to injuries. This setback has prompted the inclusion of Kyle Klein, previously named as a traveling reserve, and Saqib Zulfiqar in the 15-member squad.

Kyle Klein, a promising right-arm fast bowler, has played three international matches for the Netherlands since his debut earlier this year in February. His brother, Ryan Klein, has now been appointed as the team's first reserve.

Meanwhile, Saqib Zulfiqar is making a return to T20I cricket after a hiatus of nearly five years, having last played the format in August 2019. Despite his absence from T20Is, Saqib has been active in the ODI setup and was part of the Netherlands squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

The Netherlands are currently engaged in preparations for the T20 World Cup through a T20I tri-series against Scotland and Ireland at home.

They are scheduled to play two warm-up matches, first against Sri Lanka on May 28 and then against Canada on May 30, before their tournament opener against Nepal on May 4 in Dallas.

The Dutch team is placed in Group D alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

Squad: Aryan Dutt, Bas de Leede, Kyle Klein, Logan van Beek, Max O'Dowd, Michael Levitt, Paul van Meekeren, Saqib Zulfiqar, Scott Edwards, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Teja Nidamanuru, Tim Pringle, Vikram Singh, Viv Kingma, Wesley Barresi.
