Netizens praise Babar for giving his Player of the Match award to Khushdil

Pakistan captain Babar Azam turned up with a heartwarming gesture for teammate Khushdil Shah after the opening ODI against the West Indies on Wednesday, June 8 at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The 27-year-old Babar scored 103 runs off 107 balls with nine fours, guiding the Men in Green to a five-wicket win in the match.

After the game, the Lahore-born Babar was adjudged the Player of the Match. But the captain decided to transfer the award and prize money to Khushdil, who played a critical role in Pakistan getting past the finishing line.

Khushdil came to bat after Babar got out with the hosts needing 69 runs off 51 balls. From there on, he stayed unbeaten on 41 off 23 balls with one four and four sixes. In the 47th over, the southpaw smashed Romario Shepherd for three sixes in a row.

Azam generously handed his award to Khushdil. "I want to give the award to him for his outstanding knock," said Azam.
