The ICC has announced its Women’s ODI Team of the Year 2024, featuring a star-studded lineup of players from across the globe. However, the list notably excludes any Pakistani cricketers.

The team, led by South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, highlights standout players who delivered exceptional performances throughout the year. Smriti Mandhana from India, Chamari Athapaththu from Sri Lanka, and Hayley Matthews from the West Indies were among the top-order batters who made the cut.

All-rounders like Marizanne Kapp, Ashleigh Gardner, and Annabel Sutherland added balance to the squad with their contributions in both batting and bowling. England’s Amy Jones earned her spot as the wicketkeeper, while her teammates Sophie Ecclestone and Kate Cross were named for their impactful performances with the ball. India’s Deepti Sharma rounded out the lineup as a reliable all-rounder.

While this selection celebrates the achievements of top players, the absence of any representation from Pakistan highlights a lack of standout performances in the 50-over format during the year. Despite some promising talents in the Pakistani squad, their overall impact and consistency in key matches may not have matched the level of competition displayed by other international stars.
