The four-day ICC Annual Conference concluded in Colombo today, with no discussion about the 2025 Champions Trophy, reported News 18.

According to attendees, the tournament was not on the agenda for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and thus was not addressed, either formally or informally.

“It wasn’t on the agenda so it wasn’t brought up or discussed during the Annual General Meeting,” says an official who attended the AGM was quoted as saying by the Indian media outlet.

A senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who attended the entire conference, confirmed there were no discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about the Champions Trophy.

“It isn’t a bilateral where two boards will hold discussions. No dialogue happened between us and PCB on the Champions Trophy. Since it wasn’t on any of the agendas, it wasn’t discussed during the AGM too. It is still time away and ICC will handle it,” says a top BCCI official.

However, according to a local media report, the budget for the 2025 Champions Trophy was officially approved at the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) annual meeting.

The approval came on the final day of the meeting. Pakistan, the host nation for the event, was represented at the meeting by Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi.

The Champions Trophy is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
