Oman’s Bilal Khan breaks Shaheen Afridi’s ODI record

Oman pacer Bilal Khan made history by becoming the fastest seamer to reach 100 ODI wickets on Wednesday. He accomplished this milestone in just 49 ODIs, surpassing Shaheen Afridi's previous record. Afridi, the renowned Pakistan seamer, had achieved the same feat in 51 ODIs.

In the broader context of all bowlers, Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal holds the record for the fastest 100 ODI wickets, achieving it in only 42 matches.

Bilal Khan's historic achievement occurred during Oman's ICC CWC League 2 match against Namibia, where he took three wickets and posted figures of 3/50 in his 10 overs. His performance was instrumental in restricting Namibia to 196/9 in their 50 overs.

Since his ODI debut in April 2019, Bilal has secured four five-wicket hauls in this format. He also boasts an impressive record in T20 cricket for Oman, with 110 wickets in 78 games at an economy rate of 6.78.
