Pakistan secured a remarkable nine-wicket victory over Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide on Friday.

This win not only leveled the three-match series at 1-1 but also set records along the way, as Pakistan smashed 10 sixes—more than any visiting ODI team has hit against Australia on their home soil.

The day began with Pakistan’s bowlers dismantling the Australian lineup, restricting the hosts to a meager 163 all out. Leading the charge was Haris Rauf, who delivered a phenomenal spell, finishing with figures of 5-29 in his eight overs. His fast-bowling partner, Shaheen Afridi, also delivered a masterful performance, claiming 3-26. Together, they tore through the Australian batting order, which struggled from the start. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain each added a wicket to complete a near-flawless bowling performance by the visitors.

In response, Pakistan’s top-order batters made light work of the chase. Young opener Saim Ayub played a sensational innings, smashing 82 off 71 balls, which included six sixes and five fours. His dynamic partnership with Abdullah Shafique, who scored a composed 64 not out, provided Pakistan with a strong foundation. Babar Azam came in after Ayub’s dismissal and added a quick 15 not out to help Pakistan comfortably reach the target in just 26.3 overs, with 141 balls to spare.
