PAK vs AUS: Pakistan women’s cricketers laud men’s ODI win over Australia

Pakistan’s women cricketers expressed their joy and pride following the men’s team’s remarkable victory over Australia in the second ODI.

 Former national women’s team captain and all-rounder Nida Dar shared her excitement, highlighting the impact of the men’s team's performance on the entire cricket community in Pakistan. 

“We are thrilled with the men’s team’s outstanding performance. Their victory boosts our confidence as well. Cricket fans had grown frustrated with a string of poor performances, but this impressive win on Australian soil has made Pakistan cricket the central topic of conversation on social media,” said Dar.

Praising the talent and potential of Pakistani cricketers, Dar added, “Our players are exceptionally talented, capable of extraordinary feats at any time and against any team. We need to continue playing aggressive cricket against strong teams like Australia, England, and New Zealand. Fans had been waiting a long time to witness a victory, and as a team, we too felt disappointed when we couldn’t deliver good results.” She acknowledged that Pakistan’s women’s team has also struggled to achieve favorable outcomes recently.

Responding to a question about the PCB’s efforts for women’s cricket, Dar appreciated the Pakistan Women’s One-Day Cup, currently being held in Karachi. “The tournament is a fantastic platform for talented players to showcase their skills. It’s encouraging that the PCB has appointed legendary cricketers as mentors for the event. Having icons from the past available in the team environment has a positive effect on players’ performances and boosts their confidence.”

Dar emphasized that the women’s team needs more match experience to better handle competitive pressure. “The more matches we play, the easier it becomes to cope with pressure. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s women’s team gets limited opportunities and often plays against developing teams,” she noted.

Teammate Iram Javed echoed these sentiments, expressing how the men’s team’s success positively influences women’s cricket. “The performance of our men’s team strengthens and inspires women’s cricket as well. Our prayers are always with the Pakistan cricket team, and we are elated with this incredible win over Australia.”

Javed also underscored the importance of consistent women’s cricket events to nurture the game’s growth. “There’s a lot of talent in women’s cricket, and it’s vital that juniors continue to learn and improve. Expanding the talent pool is increasing competition, and there’s a need to establish a women’s cricket league in Pakistan,” she suggested, hoping for more structured opportunities to develop and showcase Pakistan’s women cricketers.
