The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is grappling with a significant dilemma as it prepares for the second Test match against England, scheduled to begin on October 15 in Multan. The fitness of young leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed remains uncertain after he was forced to leave the field during the first Test due to illness and is currently hospitalized.

Abrar, who has been suffering from fever and body aches, underwent various medical tests on Thursday. The PCB anticipates receiving the medical reports today, which will determine whether he can participate in the upcoming match. Should Abrar be deemed unfit, sources indicate that Nauman Ali is poised to take his place in the squad, with Zahid Mahmood also available as a backup option.

In the first Test, Abrar bowled 35 overs, conceding 174 runs without taking a wicket, before falling ill. The team management made the decision to admit him to the hospital to ensure he receives adequate treatment.

As Pakistan struggles to avoid defeat in the ongoing Test, the pressure is mounting, particularly with England having declared their innings at a staggering 823 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Pakistan’s batting lineup has faced challenges, currently sitting at over 150 runs for the loss of six wickets, trailing by nearly 100 runs. While players like Salman Ali Agha and Aamir Jamal have shown promise, the team’s prospects look increasingly grim.
