The series decider is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi from October 24-28
Pakistan staged a resounding comeback, securing their first home Test victory in over three years by defeating England by 152 runs at Multan. The home team, led by Shan Masood, had faced intense scrutiny after a disappointing 0-2 Test series loss to Bangladesh.
The pressure mounted further following a disheartening defeat against England in the series opener, where they succumbed by an innings and 47 runs despite posting a staggering 556 runs in their first innings.
However, Pakistan's spin duo, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, turned the tide in the second Test, exploiting England's weaknesses against spin bowling. Sajid Khan claimed seven wickets in the first innings, while Noman Ali delivered an impressive eight-wicket haul in the second, leading Pakistan to a much-needed victory and breaking their home jinx.
Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott offered his insights on England's performance, particularly their struggles against spin.
In an interview with Mirror, Boycott stated, "If our guys are honest with themselves as a team they should be asking why on do they have these big collapses? One guy will get a big score like Ben Duckett in the first innings but as a unit the top order tends to crumble. It happened in India far too often. The only Test match they won in that series earlier this year was when Ollie Pope put on a one-man show and scored a fabulous 196 in Hyderabad."
Boycott further emphasized that England's batting approach may be contributing to their inconsistencies: "I think they have these failures because the players only have one way of batting which is attack, attack, attack to get on top of the opposition bowlers and bully them into submission."
As the series now shifts to Rawalpindi for the decider starting October 24, England will be looking to rectify their mistakes and improve their performance against Pakistan's formidable spin attack.
Notably, during their last visit to Pakistan, England had swept the home side with a 3-0 series win, leaving the current series poised for an exciting conclusion.
