In a match that will be remembered for its twists and turns, England suffered a disappointing defeat in the second Test against Pakistan. The highlight of the match, however, was a truly bizarre dismissal for captain Ben Stokes.
Chasing a challenging target of 297, England struggled to maintain their composure against the spin duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali. With the game delicately poised at 125-6, Stokes attempted to counterattack. However, his aggressive approach backfired as he was bamboozled by Ali's deceptive delivery.
Stokes went down the track to launch the ball over the boundary, but his attempt was foiled by Ali's sharp turn. The ball looped high in the air and fell straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, who completed a straightforward stumping.
The dismissal quickly went viral on social media, with former England captain Michael Vaughan sharing a screenshot of the incident and jokingly captioning it, "Spot the bat competition."
Ali's impressive performance with the ball was instrumental in Pakistan's victory. He finished the match with a remarkable 11 wickets, including 8-46 in the second innings. Khan, too, played a crucial role, taking 2-93 in the second innings to complement his 7-111 in the first.
The win marked a significant milestone for Pakistan captain Shan Masood, who had endured a difficult period as leader. It also ended a 11-match winless streak at home for Pakistan.
With the series now tied at 1-1, the teams will now head to Rawalpindi for the decisive third Test, which begins on October 24.
