Shan commended the performances of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan
After Pakistan's convincing 152-run victory over England in the Multan Test, Shan Masood shared insights into the team's strategy and selection decisions.
The captain emphasized the importance of taking 20 wickets, which was a primary focus when the new selection committee took charge.
“When the new selection committee came, we all sat together and our only concern was about taking 20 wickets," Masood stated.
He recalled that the team had only achieved this goal once before during his tenure, specifically in Melbourne. With the conditions in Multan favoring spin bowling, the selection committee decided to take a bold approach.
"In my tenure, we only previously did this in Melbourne. Looking at the conditions, we felt that if we played on a used pitch and gave the spinners the advantage, we had a chance. Why not try something different? he explained.
Masood highlighted the significance of adaptability in cricket, saying, "When one thing isn’t working, it’s better to look at your alternative options."
He commended the performances of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who played crucial roles in securing the win. "Credit goes to Noman and Sajid for their comeback - it looked like two seasoned campaigners bowling for Pakistan," he concluded.
The success of the spin duo was evident, as Nauman took eight wickets while Sajid claimed two in the second innings. Their impactful performances helped Pakistan not only secure a victory but also regain confidence in their spin attack after a challenging period at home.
