Pakistan Women secured a ten-wicket victory over UAE Women in their second group match of the ongoing Women's Asia Cup 2024 on Tuesday in Dambulla.
After being asked to bat first, UAE were restricted to 103 runs for eight wickets in their innings. Theertha Satish was the standout performer with the bat, notching 40 runs from 36 deliveries, including five boundaries.
However, other UAE batters struggled to score crucial runs against a disciplined Pakistan bowling attack.
Sadiq Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, and Tuba Hassan each picked up two wickets in their four-over spells, while skipper Nida Dar claimed one wicket.
During the chase, Pakistan successfully reached their target without losing a single wicket, with 35 deliveries remaining. They scored 107 runs in just 14.1 overs.
Gul Feroza led the charge with 62 runs from 55 deliveries, including eight boundaries. Her partner, Muneeba Ali, also played a crucial knock, scoring 37 runs from 30 deliveries with four boundaries.
This victory significantly boosted Pakistan's net run rate, strengthening their chances of reaching the semifinals.
Pakistan had previously lost their opening match against India but secured a win against Nepal. This commanding performance against the UAE puts them in a strong position to advance to the tournament's next stage.
