Test fast bowler Mir Hamza sustained an injury while fielding during a match, resulting in a painful blow to his elbow that forced him to leave the field.

Hamza, 32, was playing for Ghani Glass against Eshaal Associates in the President’s Trophy Grade One Cricket Tournament. The injury occurred on the second day of the match at the HPC Oval Ground when Hamza dived to take a catch, injuring his left elbow in the process.

Ghani Glass’ coach, Former Test wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, described the incident as an unfortunate situation. He added, "There’s no grass on the outfield, and players will dive on the dirt, leading to such injuries."

Just days before, former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez, coach of Sui Southern Gas, had criticized the arrangements for the President’s Cup at the same ground, urging the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to address the issue.

Mir Hamza has been selected by Karachi Kings in the PSL 2025 Draft in the ‘Silver’ category.
