No cricket was played at a rain-soaked Lauderhill in Florida as USA and Ireland were awarded one point each, advancing USA to the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from Group A.

This marks a historic achievement for the USA in their debut World Cup appearance, securing a spot alongside India in the top two of their group.

Persistent wet conditions delayed proceedings, leading to multiple inspections before officials confirmed the match as abandoned due to the unfit outfield.

With this outcome, all qualification scenarios in Group A were settled: Ireland’s chances of progressing to the Super Eight ended, while Pakistan also exited the tournament at the group stage.

Had USA lost to Ireland, it would have opened the door for Pakistan to potentially advance by defeating Ireland in their upcoming match. However, USA’s previous victories over Canada and Pakistan ensured their progression with an unbeatable tally of five points. This achievement makes them the sixth team to secure a spot in the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
