The event, held at the Dewan-e-Khas, built excitement ahead of the tournament
Pakistan has officially kicked off the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a grand Curtain Raiser event at the historic Lahore Fort, marking the country's first ICC event in 29 years.
The event, held at the Dewan-e-Khas, built excitement ahead of the tournament, which begins on February 19 with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match.
To celebrate the occasion, Lahore Fort was beautifully illuminated, giving fans a glimpse of the thrilling action ahead. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi described the moment as a historic one for the country.
"The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will return to Pakistan for the first time in 29 years. This tournament is more than just cricket; it is an opportunity to showcase Pakistan's hospitality and passion," Naqvi said
The event also brought back memories of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy victory, where they defeated India by 180 runs in the final at The Oval. Members of that title-winning squad were present at the ceremony, reliving their famous triumph.
Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B features Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. The top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals.
