Despite being the host nation, Pakistan was notably absent from the prize distribution ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy, raising concerns over the traditional protocol of such events.
According to sources, Tournament Director Sumair Ahmed Syed was present at the stadium but was not invited to participate in the ceremony. The selection of dignitaries for the prize distribution is solely managed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), and no representative from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or the host country was included in the proceedings.
Historically, ICC events have seen a representative from the host nation take part in the prize-giving ceremony. The omission of a Pakistani official from the Champions Trophy ceremony has led to speculation and disappointment within the local cricketing community.
While the ICC has yet to comment on the matter, the absence of a host nation representative has sparked discussions about whether it was an oversight or a deliberate decision.
