Pakistan running away at the top is perfect for India: Brian Lara

West Indies batting legend Brian Lara believes that Pakistan’s unbeaten run in the ongoing T20 World Cup is perfect for India.

Pakistan are currently top of the table in group 2 with two wins, against India and New Zealand, from two games and it’s likely to stay that way with the Men in Green’s next matches set to be against slightly weaker opponents in the shape of Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland.

Lara believes that Pakistan staying at top of the ladder will help India secure the second spot in the table.

“India now have to beat New Zealand. Of course, they have other games to play but Pakistan running away at the top is perfect for India to sort of look for that second spot,” Lara told official broadcasters Star Sports.

Pakistan will face Afghanistan today at the Dubai International Stadium.

Meanwhile, India’s next match in the tournament is against New Zealand on Sunday.
