Opening batter Kamran Akhtar was the star of the match
Pakistan’s blind cricket team advanced to the Blind T20 World Cup 2024 final after a commanding 10-wicket win over Nepal in the first semi-final held at Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Nepal set a modest target of 95 runs after struggling against Pakistan’s strong bowling attack. The hosts chased it down in just 5.3 overs without losing a wicket.
Opening batter Kamran Akhtar was the star of the match, smashing an unbeaten 63 off 21 balls, which included 13 boundaries and a six. His partner, Babar Ali, also delivered a quick knock, scoring 32 not out from 14 balls.
Earlier, Nepal’s batting faltered against Pakistan’s disciplined bowlers. Durgadatta Paudel fought hard, scoring 40 runs off 42 balls, while Ramesh Baniyan contributed 17 not out. However, none of the other Nepal batters could reach double figures, leaving their side at 94/7 in 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Mati Ullah was exceptional, taking 3/5 in his four overs. Badar Munir also claimed a wicket, adding to Nepal’s troubles.
Pakistan will face the winner of the second semi-final between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the final, scheduled for Tuesday at the same venue.
