Young wicketkeeper Haseebullah Khan has become the latest victim of fitness issues, casting doubt over his participation in the upcoming Test series against West Indies.

Haseebullah is currently part of Pakistan's squad for the series against South Africa. According to sources, he sustained an injury during a practice session in the Cape Town Test when a ball struck his hand. Medical staff have advised him to rest for two weeks.

The wicketkeeper-batter is also included in the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the West Indies series. However, his unavailability may open the door for Rohail Nazir to take his place. A three-day practice match is scheduled to begin on January 10 at the Islamabad Club.

Meanwhile, opener Saim Ayub is recovering from an ankle injury sustained on the opening day of the Cape Town Test. He is currently in London undergoing treatment. Reports suggest Saim’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy looks increasingly unlikely.
