Australian women's team all-rounder Ellyse Perry has shared her prediction for the ICC World Cup 2023, expressing her belief that Australia is the frontrunner to clinch the title.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season 9, Perry conveyed her confidence in Australia's prospects.

“Australia is the favourite for both the Pakistan match in Bengaluru and to lift up the World Cup,” Perry said.

However, Alana King from the Perth Scorchers offered a contrasting perspective. King identified India and Pakistan as formidable contenders, emphasizing the anticipated competitiveness of the tournament.

“It is going to be a pretty tight World Cup. I am not sure who is going to be top four. I think India are going to be pretty hard to beat. Pakistan are obviously going to be hard to beat. It is going to be hard fight for the Aussies to get into the semi-finals. Although I am of Indian heritage and I would love to see Australia in the final, I think it is going to be India in the final,” King said.

India leads the points table with three victories, while Pakistan holds the fourth position with two wins and a loss. Meanwhile, five-time World Champions, Australia, finds itself at the bottom of the standings.
