Taylor, Boult star as New Zealand down Pakistan in first ODI

Visitors register 47-run win to go 1-0 up in three-match series


Ross Taylor's brilliant knock and Trent Boult's outstanding opening spell was enough for New Zealand to register a 47-run win against Pakistan in the first ODI of the three-match series in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. 

After opting to bat first, the Black Caps posted a competitive total of 266 for the loss of nine wickets, where veteran middle-order batsman Ross Taylor finisehd the innings with the top score of 80 off 112 balls with the help of five fours. 

For Pakistan, leg-spinner Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowler as he claimed figures of four for 38. 

In reply, the home side never get going with the bat and were bundled out for just 219 in the 48th over, where captain Sarfraz Ahmed finished the innings with the top score of 64 off 69 balls with the help of seven fours. 

For the Black Caps, pacers Boult and Lockie Ferguson claimed three wickets each.
