Pakistan women have defeated Bangladesh by seven runs in their second warm-up match of the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup played at Lincoln Green. 

The Girls in Green defended 202 (DLS) in a rain-affected match by restricting Bangladesh to 194.

Pakistan also won their previous warm-up fixture against the Kiwis, making an ideal start to their World Cup campaign.

Pakistan women captain Bismah Mahroof won the toss and elected to bat. The match got interrupted in the fourth over due to rain and was reduced to 42 overs aside. Pakistan’s top order collapsed as they lost their first three wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs. 

The two most experienced batters of Pakistan reconstructed the innings adding 73 runs for the fourth wicket, Javeria Khan scored 44 and skipper Bismah Maroof made 32 runs.

Bangladesh bowlers made a comeback as they dismissed Javeria Khan, Bismah Mahroof, and Omaima Sohail in the space of 19 balls in the middle overs of the innings, leaving Pakistan in a vulnerable position.

Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana again came to the rescue for Pakistan. The duo also played a match-winning innings against the formidable attack of the Kiwis in the previous warm-up game. 

Both batters added 66 crucial runs for the seventh wicket to help Pakistan reach a decent total of 199. The target was revised to 202 by the duck worth lewis method (DLS).

Fariha Trisna and Ritu Mohini picked up three wickets each for Bangladesh. Chasing 202, Bangladesh had a shaky start by losing two wickets for 29 runs. Fargana Hoque played a brilliant knock of 71 for Bangladesh, almost seeing them through, but none of the batters supported her as wickets continued tumbling on the other end.

Fatima Sana dismissed Fargana in 37th over when Bangladesh required 31 runs off 82 balls. However, Pakistan bowled out their opponents in the final over of the match, as Fatima Sana picked up 4-47 and Nashra Sandhu bagged 3-21.

The mega event starts tomorrow while Pakistan will play their first match on Sunday, March 6, against arch-rivals India, who also won their warm-up fixtures against South Africa and West Indies.
