Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya delivered a tremendous performance as India registered a narrow victory over Pakistan by 5 wickets in the opening game of Asia Cup 2022.
Pandya's quality was never in question as he also led his domestic team Gujrat Titans to their maiden India Premier League (IPL) title in their debut season as captain of the franchise.
The all-rounder picked up 3 for 25 and played a match-winning knock of 33* runs including the winning runs off Mohammad Nawaz, who was defending 7 runs from the last over.
His performances prompted former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur to praise the Indian all-rounder.
"Hardik Pandya in the side means it's almost like India are playing with 12 players. It reminds me of my time back in South Africa when we had Jacques Kallis. You have a guy who can be one of your four seamers and bat in your top five," said Mickey.
The Indian all-rounder has registered some tremendous clutch performances and his firmly established himself as a force to be reckoned with.
