To maintain a high level of competition, players must have previously participated in international or domestic cricket
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially unveiled the rules governing the inclusion of new departments in Grade 2 cricket, setting a clear path for future teams and players in the domestic circuit.
The guidelines aim to improve the quality of the game and ensure that new entrants meet the necessary standards in various areas such as player eligibility, salary, infrastructure, and coaching qualifications.
To maintain a high level of competition, players must have previously participated in international or domestic cricket. The inclusion of Under-19 players has also been regulated, with the requirement that they must have competed in any cricket event within the past three years.
For government organizations, adherence to existing regulations is mandatory. Private organizations, on the other hand, will be required to offer players a minimum monthly salary of 50,000 rupees. Additionally, a daily allowance of at least 2,000 rupees must be provided to all players.
To ensure the best playing conditions, it is mandatory for organizations to have access to a private or leased ground with a standard turf pitch. These grounds must meet the PCB's criteria for professional play.
The coach of any new department team must possess a Level 1 coaching qualification or have a background as a first-class cricketer, ensuring the highest level of expertise and development for the players.
Private departments seeking affiliation with the PCB will be required to pay an affiliation fee of 3.5 million rupees and an annual fee of 3 million rupees. These funds will contribute to the maintenance and development of Grade 2 cricket in the country.
Organizations wishing to apply for inclusion in Grade 2 cricket must submit their applications by November 20, 2024.
