Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman, Najam Sethi, on Tuesday appealed to CM Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, to provide adequate security to teams and fans for the upcoming playoffs of Pakistan Super League in Lahore.

Sethi took to his Twitter account, to emphasise the need to protect the brand image of Pakistan’s biggest event.

"Mohsin Naqvi, PSL 8 multi-million dollar final on 19 March will be played before 25k people at Gaddafi Stadium & 100m across the globe. This is Pakistan’s finest showcase. Punjab government must ensure failsafe security & smooth traffic flow to facilitate people's access to the stadium," he tweeted.

PSL 8 playoffs will commence from tomorrow when Lahore Qalandars take on Multan Sultans in the Qualifier. However, both teams cancelled their training sessions on Tuesday due to political unrest in the city of Lahore.

As the battle for the prestigious SuperNova Trophy and yearlong bragging rights enters its final stage, Lahore will remain under spotlight for the entire week as the Gaddafi Stadium stages the much-anticipated matches of this year’s HBL PSL edition.

Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi will meet in the first Eliminator on Thursday and the team that loses will get knocked out of the event. The winner will face the loser of the Qualifier on Friday. The final of the mega event will take place on March 19.
