PCB Chairman reacts to Pakistan's record win, hails 'classy' Abdullah Shafique

Pakistan produced a record four-wicket win against Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle International Stadium.

The visitors chased down 342, becoming only the first side to chase 300+ target at this particular venue. The monumental total was chased down due to the efforts of emerging batter Abdullah Shafique, who scored an unbeaten 160*.

Skipper Babar Azam, who made 119 in the first innings, scored 55 in the second. Mohammad Rizwan added 40 while Imam-ul-Haq chipped in with 35.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja hailed Babar Azam's side for overcoming a gigantic task and proving everyone wrong.

"This #teamPakistan had to overcome a statistical Everest to prove the world wrong at Galle and they did !! Great run chase. Congrats Babar Azam," he tweeted.

"And Pakistan may have found the next batting superstar in Abdullah Shafique. So calm and organised and classy," he added.

The second Test between both the sides will take place at the same venue from July 24.
