PCB chief confirms inauguration dates for Champions Trophy venues

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has officially announced the inauguration dates for the stadiums hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ceremonies will take place before the tournament kicks off.  

As Pakistan prepares to host its first major ICC event in nearly three decades, three key venues—Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi—have undergone extensive renovations. To mark these upgrades, the PCB has scheduled grand opening ceremonies at each stadium.  

Stadium Inauguration Schedule: 

1. February 7 – Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore 

- The first stadium to be inaugurated, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected as the chief guest.  
- The historic venue has been upgraded with modernized seating, improved floodlights, and enhanced security.  

2. February 11 – National Stadium, Karachi 

- Former President Asif Ali Zardari will attend the opening ceremony.  
- Renovations include a revamped outfield, upgraded facilities for spectators, and an improved media center.  

3. February 16 – Lahore (Official Tournament Opening) 

- The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will officially open at Gaddafi Stadium.  
- Dignitaries from the ICC, PCB, and international cricket boards will attend.  
- This marks Pakistan’s return as a host of a major ICC event after nearly 30 years.  

The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight teams competing across three venues in Pakistan, with an additional venue in Dubai.
