Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is furious over the mishandling of young fast bowler Ihsanullah's injury by board officials.

Ihsanullah gained prominence in the previous Pakistan Super League season with his impressive pace and subsequently represented Pakistan in several T20 and ODI matches. However, his career took a setback after suffering an elbow injury following the series against New Zealand, sidelining him from major events like the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Unfortunately, incorrect diagnosis and a failed surgery in Lahore have prolonged his recovery. PCB officials, including a senior doctor, initially misdiagnosed him, wasting time on rehabilitation. Subsequently, a botched surgery led to the realization that he needed specialized treatment in the UK, funded by his PSL team, Multan Sultans.

Naqvi is displeased with the PCB's handling of the situation and may take action against those responsible.

"Mohsin Naqvi is very upset after this incident came out in the open and he came to know about it. Chances are that some of the officials responsible for supervising Ehsan's treatment will find themselves out of jobs very soon," a source close to PCB was quoted as saying by The Press Trust of India (PTI).

Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen has revealed that all expenses for Ihsanullah's treatment abroad, as well as his living expenses, have been covered by Multan Sultans. The team also provided accommodations for Ihsanullah and his family during his rehabilitation period in Lahore.

“While Ihsan was doing rehab in NCA Lahore, he was staying in an apartment with his family. All rent and living expenses were paid by MS. We retained him in the PSL even though he was injured so he could spend time with our Physios and S&C. We are flying him to England this month to be assessed by a world-renowned surgeon. Ihsan is currently back home in Swat because he wanted to spend time with his family before the upcoming UK trip,” Tareen wrote on X.

Despite the setbacks, Tareen expressed gratitude that the PCB has granted permission for Ihsanullah to seek further consultation with a renowned surgeon in the UK.

“He was initially misdiagnosed. Then the surgery wasn’t successful. But atleast the PCB agreed to allow us to get him assessed by an expert in the UK and helped get the visa. Let’s see what the surgeon says,” Tareen wrote.
