During the meeting, the BoG was updated on the Bahria Town Champions One-Day Cup
The 74th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was chaired by PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi in Faisalabad on Thursday. The meeting focused on several key developments in Pakistan’s domestic cricket.
During the meeting, the BoG was updated on the Bahria Town Champions One-Day Cup, which kicked off at the Iqbal Stadium earlier in the day. The opening match featured UMT Markhors versus Lake City Panthers. The board praised Mohsin Naqvi for his efforts in securing partnerships with prominent organizations for the tournament, which showcases some of the best cricketers in the country.
The BoG proposed that the Champions Cup, which features T20 and four-day matches, be officially included in the PCB Constitution 2014. This change would make the tournament an annual event, providing more continuity and clarity to Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure.
In addition, the board suggested that the PCB should take full control of the Iqbal Stadium and upgrade it to international standards. This move would help revive the venue and enable it to host bilateral international series in the future. The impressive turnout of the Faisalabad crowd was noted as a strong reason for this proposed upgrade.
The meeting also included an update on the progress of various infrastructure projects. The BoG members expressed their full support and satisfaction with these projects, emphasizing that their completion would greatly enhance Pakistan’s image and profile in the cricketing world.
