PCB clears Rizwan's involvement in Inzamam conflict of interest probe

Director of Media and Communications for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Aalia Rasheed, has provided clarification on the involvement of wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan in the conflict of interest case concerning former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq. 

Inzamam recently resigned from his position as the chief selector following the revelation that he holds shares in Yazoo International Ltd, a company owned by players' agent Talha Rehmani.

Questions have also arisen about whether Inzamam's dual roles as Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company representing top cricketers might have influenced player selection decisions.

Moreover, Rizwan is also a director at the UK-based company, alongside Inzamam and Talha, which raised questions about Rizwan's involvement in the matter. 

However, while talking to a local news channel, Aalia has made it clear that Rizwan is not under investigation. She asserted that Rizwan is not connected to this matter in any way because players have a limited career span, and they need to invest the money they earn to ensure financial stability.

“Rizwan is not involved in this matter at all because a player has a limited career and they need to invest the money they earn in order to be financially stable after their playing days are over. Even Inzamam would not have been questioned if he was not the chief selector,” Aalia said.

Earlier, the conflict of interest controversy raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, particularly since Rehmani represents several prominent Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
