As the previous PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) management committee was preparing to leave, the chief Najam Sethi, made some significant changes to the organization's structure. Along with increasing the salaries of officials, he also decided to promote several individuals to key positions within the board.
One of the notable appointments was that of Usman Wahla, who was promoted to the position of Director of International Cricket. This role holds great responsibility as it involves overseeing and managing all aspects of Pakistan's involvement in international cricket tournaments and scheduling.
Adnan Ali was appointed as the Senior Manager of International Cricket Operations, Raza Rashid as the General Manager of the Media Department and Bilal Qureshi was also promoted to the position of Senior Manager of Umpires and Referees.
Shoaib Naveed, who had temporarily taken a three-month leave to work for American Cricket, was reportedly appointed as the General Manager of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
It must be noted that, to reinforce the 2014 constitution, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had appointed a 14-member committee last year in December. The committee's primary objective was to reintroduce departmental cricket and ensure the restoration of the 2014 constitution within a period of 120 days. However, Sethi and his team were granted a two-month extension, which concluded on June 20.
The implementation of the aforementioned decisions would be subject to the approval of the new chairman.
In recent developments, the elections for the new chairman of the PCB have been postponed due to a stay order issued by a two-member bench of the Balochistan High Court on Monday. The court's decision has resulted in a delay in the selection of the new chairman until further legal proceedings take place.
