Hesson is currently the head coach for Islamabad United, while Sammy holds the same role for Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine
A day after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the commencement of the search for a head coach and coaching staff, several potential candidates have surfaced.
As per a local media report, Mike Hesson and Daren Sammy are notable figures being considered for the coaching position of the Pakistan national men’s cricket team.
Presently, Hesson serves as the head coach for Islamabad United, while Sammy holds the same role for Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.
The report goes on to mention that the PCB is contemplating Sir Vivian Richards for a mentoring role within the team.
Under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB is keen on assembling a robust coaching staff for the national cricket team. To expedite the process and ensure a timely appointment before the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand at home, the PCB is also exploring the option of appointing local coaches alongside foreign consultants.
The upcoming visit by the New Zealand cricket team is scheduled to include five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches in April.
As per the proposed itinerary, the Kiwi squad is expected to arrive in Pakistan on April 14, with the first T20I match between Pakistan and New Zealand slated for April 18.
